Zyxel is again at the forefront of secure broadband networking, this time by announcing their LTE (long term evolution) CPE/SOHO router. LTE is said to be the next great thing in wireless communications technology as it offers extreme speed networking on an all IP platform. On such a network, data transfer rates can theoretically reach as high as 50Mbps. With such high speeds, everyone benefits, but many industries such as health care and consumer electronics will see a significant impact.
The ZLR-2070S router has been designed for both SOHO and residential use and comes with 2 VoIP ports, home networking via a four-port, 11n wireless switch and a USB port that can be used to attach a network printer or external hard drive.
The ZLR-2070S is capable of reaching 50Mbps data transfer rates which is much faster then 3G enabled devices such as HSPA / EV-DO. The 4G wireless connectivity offered by this router makes it ideal for markets that are in rural areas or have been traditionally under served.
More details including pricing and availability are forthcoming but if you’re heading down to CES 2010 and want a live demo, you might want to check them out over there as they will be in attendance.
