YouTube Coming Up With iTunes Killer?

YouTube Streaming Video

It looks like Google is now negotiating with TV studios and networks, working out deals to eventually stream TV show episodes over YouTube — for a fee. Sounds like an attack on Apple’s iTunes, if you ask me — the question is, just how good of an attack is it?

YouTube is planning to stream TV show episodes at around $1.99 per episode, which is just about around the same cost you’d pay through iTunes or Amazon. The only difference is that the episodes on YouTube will be streaming, and not downloadable. That’s where the question arises.

After all, downloadable TV episodes can still be enjoyed even when you’re not connected to the Internet. You can play them on your iPod or laptop, for instance, when you’re traveling.

But this is Google we’re talking about, so there should be something up its sleeve to ultimately make this offering work for them and the users. It will be interesting to see how this one works out because generally, Google is known to overwhelm customers with their feature rich services rather then just skimp.
