With gadgets, when words such as “the world’s most expensive” are used, you can usually assume that the man with the Midas touch, Stuart Hughes will somehow be involved. If you’ve missed some of Hughes past creations, they include the Apple iPhone 3Gs Supreme, Nintendo Wii Supreme game console and the iPod Supreme Rose Edition. With past creations, it’s usually been small luxury items, but this time, Hughes is moving up to bigger and better things, having announced the world’s most expensive television set.
The line of televisions used are built by PresigeHD and are powered by Metz. What makes Hughes creation so expensive is the abundance of precious metals and the use of the finest gemstones. The PrestigeHD Supreme Rose Edition which has a 55-inch display screen is valued at $2,250,000 and this can be attributed to the 28 kilograms, repeat kilograms of 18ct rose gold. Additionally, the frame shines brightly with the 72 1ct IF flawless diamonds that are mixed amongst the Amethyst and Sunstone. Finally, the inner screen layer comes with hand sewn Alligator skin.
If the $2.2 million price tag is a bit out of your league, Hughes does offer the PrestigeHD Supreme Edition, a slightly cheaper TV, though you’ll still have to pony up $1,500,000. The lower price on this model is directly related to the reduced amount of gold and diamonds that were used.
I think I’d stick with the Sceptre 24-inch chrome LCD TV, it’s cheaper and you’ll still get the shine.
