Standing at 1.5 meters tall, this Christmas tree won’t be the tallest in the world, but priced at 150 million Yen (1.62 million USD), this 24K gold tree stakes claim to being the world’s most expensive Christmas tree. The tree is the design of famed Japanese jeweler Ginza Tanaka and has been decorated with 240 jewels including diamond baubles and strings of pearls. The 21 kg tree will be available for viewing up until Christmas, after which it will go on sale.
Two things come to mind. First, what global recession? Second, seeing as though the tree will go on sale after Christmas, will the price be discounted like other Christmas decorations that drop in price after December 25th?
