The Apple iPad hasn’t even begun to ship yet and we’ve already got the first blinged out tablet PC courtesy of Mervis, the diamond importers. Their new toy retails for $19,999 rather then $20,000 and you’ll need to hurry if you want to buy one because there are “very limited quantities available”. I gather that keeping the price tag under the $20k mark might just entice those few that are still sitting on the fence about buying this product.
The Mervis version comes with 11.43 carats of hand-set diamonds that appear in a micro-pave styling and the quality of the diamonds used in this design have been rated as G/H in color and VS2/SI1 for clarity. You can take your pick as to if this is the coolest or tackiest iPad that money can buy, but you have to wonder if buyers remorse would set in down the road when the iPad inevitably gets upgraded with a faster processor, more RAM and perhaps 4G support.
I guess though upgrading to a new iPad at a later date really isn’t much of an issue if you can afford the $20k price tag that comes with the Mervis version.
