Anyone that’s ever worked on a machine running a Windows operating system has probably encountered a blue screen of death, a system halt error which at a minimum requires a pc reboot.
Since the Microsoft Security update of November 10, 2009, users have been reporting a new system halt error or a black screen of death (at least it’s the same acronym, BSOD). The new BSOD isn’t limited to just one operating system, Windows users have reported it on a variety of OS including Windows 7, Vista and XP. Symptoms of this new problem aren’t observed until after you log onto your terminal, after which you will see only a black screen with a My Computer Explorer window. There is no desktop, sidebar, or system tray.
Microsoft has acknowledged the system issues and are “investigating” but has not been forthcoming with an official fix or patch. Although this is not an approved official Microsoft patch, a UK security company called Prevx has released a patch and instructions on how to resolve this problem.

According to Microsoft, this black screen is not caused by the security update
I just read an article at a news web site that says:
“Microsoft has investigated reports that its November security updates made changes to permissions in the registry that are resulting in system issues for some customers,” Microsoft representative Christopher Budd said.
“The company has found those reports to be inaccurate and our comprehensive investigation has shown that none of the recently released updates are related to the behaviour described in the reports.”

Hot off the press, I’m sure we’ll see more on this issue in the coming days.
