Who wouldn’t like the idea of having their own personal robot that could perhaps take care of some of the more mundane tasks that you wish to rid yourself off. California based Willow Garage are the developers of the PR2 robot and thus far have offered this bot up for sale to local universities.

However, it looks like Willow Garage is trying to expand their customer pool as PR2 is now available for purchase by anyone, that is of course if you can afford its price tag. The asking price for PR2 is $400,000 or put another way, the price of a good home. 400k will get you a cool robot, which includes a pair of arms with grippers, an omni-directional mobile base as well as a full sensor suite.

PR2′s sensor array consists of a 5 megapixel camera with LIDAR sensors, dual Xeon services with 8-cores each, with each one invdivually boasting 24GB RAM and 2TB of storage. This robot also includes WiFi network support so that you properly control it.
