Wearable Airbag Keeps The Noggin Safe

If you’re elderly and prone to falls or just someone with two left feet who keeps stumbling over yourself, Tokyo based Prop has produced a wearable airbag. The 2.4 pound airbag resembles a traveler’s waist pouch.

When the device detects that you are falling, in less then one-tenth of a second, the unit inflates two bags each with 15 litres (3.9 gallons) of gas, protecting the wearer’s buttocks and back of the head thus reducing the chance for injury.

Japan is a nation with one of the highest life expectancy rate, so you never know if this would take off. The next time you’re walking down the street and you see someone inflating with airbags, go and help, and at least you’ll know that it’s a Prop wearable airbag that they are wearing.
