Sony has just unveiled its latest offering in the Cyber-shot series — the Cyber-shot TX5. It’s the very first waterproof camera in the series, and it seems Sony timed it just right as summer is just around the corner. Fancy taking underwater shots with your Sony camera? Now you can.
Aside from being the next poolside attraction, the TX5 is also well-suited for other outdoor activities. It’s been tested to survive falls from 5 feet up in the air, and can handle below-freezing temperatures of up to minus 10 degrees Celsius. Should be a great option for the outdoorsy types who also like to keep things small.
The spec sheet for the TX5 include some pretty nifty features — a 10.2-MP camera, a 3-inch touchscreen display for UI, and 4x optical zoom. When it comes to video recording, the TX5 offers 720p, with an additional 10fps burst mode. Storage is well-covered, as the TX5 supports expandable memory via SD and SDHC memory cards.
The TX5 will be available at around late March, so if you’re thinking of getting a new camera for that family vacation trip you’ve been putting off for years, this might be worth the extra month’s wait.
