It all started with Sleeping Beauty. When Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment (WDSHE) released their famed classic in a “Combo Pack” that included a Blu-Ray Disc and a standard DVD, people immediately loved the idea of “future-proofing” their entertainment investments. It wasn’t long before WDSHE began shipping out combo packs of their other, more recent hits, as well.
Disney recently conducted a survey that confirmed a good majority of home entertainment buffs who were amenable to moving to Blu-Ray technology in the near future. It also uncovered a considerable percentage of people who still prefer using DVD’s, and would like to make sure they could still enjoy their investments even after a shift in trends.
A variation of the combo pack includes a DisneyFile Digital Copy of the movie, in addition to the Blu-Ray and DVD. This lets users enjoy the movies at home, in the car, or on their PC’s.
Thanks to the widely positive reaction, WDSHE has agreed to continue offering the very cost-effective combo packs throughout the next year. This means that whether you prefer DVD or Blu-Ray, if you like Disney movies, then you’ll be enjoying them for a long, long time.
