Virgin Mobile Canada joins the ranks of four other Canadian carriers (Telus, Bell Canada, Rogers Wireless, Fido) confirming today that they to will carry the Apple iPhone 3G and 3GS. The official press release was incredibly brief with not many details offered.
What we do know is that the iPhone will be their first HSPA-based phone, that it will be available both through their online store as well as through more traditional bricks and mortar locations. What we don’t know is how much will it cost or exactly when will they start selling them, although they do say “in the coming months.” There is some speculation that this may mean February 2010 at the earliest.
I suspect that Virgin won’t be looking to break any new ground here, so pricing will probably be in line with what the other carriers currently retail the phones for and most likely, you’ll need to sign your life away with a multi-year service plan.
