On November 21st, a person by the name of Dana Hanna is standing at the alter in front of a man in cloth with his beautiful bride to be at what is one of the most important moments of their life together, the wedding ceremony.
When the couple are joined in holy matrimony, does the groom kiss his new bride? Nope, instead, he whips out his mobile device to update his relationship status on his Facebook page to married and sends out a message to his digital followers on Twitter announcing his marriage. From there, he hands the phone over to his wife so that she can also update her social networking sites.
We live in a digital age where people are always connected and have access to an unprecedented amount of information. With recent stories such as the Balloon Boy or the White house crashing couple, Tareq and Michaele Salahi, there was a bit of skepticism about if this story was staged to which Hanna responded “I have a lot of family scattered around the country and we all use Facebook a lot to keep in touch. So when Tracy and I were engaged, most of my family found out via Facebook because we updated our statuses.”
If only this wedding had taken place a few months later, I wonder if it would have appeared on Bing Maps with the tweets?
