As the iPhone 5 is so new, everyday, the Apple smartphone just keeps on surprising us. As we know, Friday was the big day, the day that the iPhone 5 went on sale in retail locations around the United States and as could be expected, demand was quite high with line-ups around the block in many cases.
Interestingly enough, the Verizon model of the iPhone 5 has revealed one of its secrets. Now whether this was intentional or not is not known at this time, but it turns out that Verizon is selling an unlocked iPhone 5, one that is compatible with the AT&T network. Essentially, you will be able to take an AT&T SIM card and insert it into a Verizon iPhone 5 and the handset will now be active on the AT&T network. With this feature, users will be able to move from one network to another and this is the first time that a Verizon iPhone has come with this feature. Of course, when you buy the handset from Verizon, you do have to sign up for a 2 year contract, so this may mean little to the average consumer, but it is interesting to see that this option is there. What is not known at this time is whether the device will also work on other networks such as T-Mobile USA, but this should be confirmed shortly.
