Google is without a doubt priming Android for other devices besides mobile phones, and there have even been suggestions from partner companies that the OS would be available on a home phone and tablet PC early next year. But the honor of being the first ever in-home device to run Android goes to Vega, an in-home device with complete connectivity.
Vega is a smart mix of smartphone and touchscreen device. Its basic memory of 512MB makes it the rough equivalent of the average netbook. It also sports the Android Eclair OS, 3G connectivity, HD entertainment, full-streaming media, and a touchscreen, all powered by a Tegra processor. It comes in 7-, 11-, and 15-inch versions.
Pricing has not yet been announced, but this and its availability (along with a full spec sheet) is expected to be unveiled on January 7-10, 2010 at the International CES Show. That means, unfortunately, it won’t make it in time for Christmas.
