US Retailer Meijer Drops iPad Price By $70

Companies will often hold sales on Apple products to try and draw in more customers but Meijer has gone a step beyond by offering some deep discounts on the current iPad 2. Often, when we see discounts this deep, it’s usually an indication that a company is trying to clear out some of its inventory and the timing of the Meijer sale seems to fall in line with recent rumors from last month which indicated that Apple may indeed announce their iPad 3 in March.

The Meijer sale extends to all of their iPad 2 models including their entry level tablets. The sale price will be available until February 25th and the 16GB WiFi only model can be had for $429, which is $70 off of the regular price. The iPad is not the only Apple product that Meijer has discounted as the company has reduced the price of the iPad 2 Smart Covers to $35 and they are also offering a free $15 iTunes gift card as an incentive for each 8GB iPod touch music player that is sold. Of all the items that Meijer has on sale, it is without a doubt the iPad 2 which has seen the deepest discounts. If it is correct that Apple will launch the iPad 3 next month, it may make sense for Meijer to begin to try and clear out their inventory before Apple fans start swarming on Cupertino’s newest model.
