McDonalds may use the tagline “Billions and billions served” and Apple iTunes recently laid claim to 10 billion downloads through and now, the social networking site Twitter has now joined this exclusive club with their announcement of reaching the 10,000,000,000 tweet milestone.
It’s believed the 10 billionth tweet was sent out at around 1AM GMT this morning and comes some five months after Twitter reached the five billion tweet mark. Since their inception in 2009, the micro-blogging site has been a force in real time search with the three big search engines eager to integrate Twitter feeds into their search results.
According to GigaTweet, Twitter will maintain its pace of growth with estimates indicating that the 11 billionth tweet is only about 20 days away and that another 200 days from now is when we can expect Twitter to reach the 20 billion Tweet mark.
Unlike the Apple iTunes 10 billionth download where we had specifics, the same cannot be said about the 10 billionth tweet because the Twitter user has a protected feed. However, for you’re viewing pleasure is the 9,999,999,999 tweet.
