Toshiba has announced its new WiFi enabled SD card but in doing so, the tech company is getting in the game that is currently dominated by the likes of Eye-Fi. This is the first wireless SDHC memory card for Toshiba and has been developed in conjunction with Singapore based Trek 2000.

The new 8GB card will introduce IEEE 802.11b/g WiFi functionality to digital cameras that have an integrated SDHC slot. Once a card has been inserted into an SDHC slot, it will have the capacity to recognize and transfer picture files with like cards that have been placed in other still cameras. The card supports the SD memory card standard and can transfer both JPEG and RAW image, two of the more popular digital image file formats these days

Toshiba has not released pricing information but this should be forthcoming shortly.
