The Apple iPhone 4 has captured the majority of the news headlines over the last few days, but that still hasn’t stopped other tech companies from releasing their products.
Toshiba for instance has a new line of portable, external hard drives that will be available in two different form factors as well as in various drive sizes. Called the Stor.e Alu 2, the Toshiba drives will be available in either silver or cappuccino brown with the shells having been made out of a semi-durable aluminum material. Using aluminum for the casing affords the new drives with a certain degree of durability as well as protection from shock damage, water and dust.
The drives will be available in either 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch sizes. The smaller form factor drives are USB powered devices and are available in 320GB, 500GB, 640GB drive sizes. The 3.5-inch drives on the other hand require a 24-watt 12V/2A power source and are available in the drive sizes of 500 GB, 640GB, 1TB, 1.5TB, 2TB.
Toshiba has not announced pricing for the Stor.e Alu 2 but they will be available in Africa, Europe and the Middle East in Q2 2010.
