
Toshiba has launched their new Portege M780 tablet computer which appears to be an upgrade of their earlier model, the M750. The device has been described as a modern notebook that fits into a tablet form factor, a device that could possibly appeal to enterprise clients.
The Toshiba tablet includes a 12.1-inch WXGA LED Backlight widescreen display with 1280×800 pixel resolution that supports both digital pen and touch screen with good viewing available under both indoor and outdoor lighting. Under the hood, the tablet comes with an Intel Core i7-620M processor with a clock speed of 2.66GHz and 4GB DDR3 RAM (1066MHz). Mobile users will have access to a 320GB hard drive rated at 720RPM, an Ultra SlimBay DVD-SuperMulti drive that supports +/-R double layer discs as well as a webcam and an integrated microphone in the LCD bezel for video conferencing.
The M780 supports network connections through a wired Ethernet LAN connection as well as wireless 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth technology (V2.1 + EDR). Rounding out the features is a 51Wh 6-cell Li-Ion battery rated for 4.86 hours of use before needing a recharge.
