Toshiba Media Server – Concept Design

At CEATEC 2008, Toshiba presented a glimpse of what convergence of future technology may look like with their Toshiba Media Server. This concept product demonstrated how phones, televisions and media servers could all communicate with one another to allow for the easy transfer of data from one location to another.

As part of their presentation, Toshiba mentioned that a person could place a cell phone within range of the media server. This would activate the server using NFC (Near Field Communication) and media files stored on the cell phone would automatically start downloading to the server. From there, the media files could be viewed on the wireless HD TV.
