Many companies have been looking at RFID tags to streamline their business. Grocery stores for instance are considering RFID to tag their products. No longer would you have to stand in line at a checkout to have your products manually scanned one at a time. Instead, with RFID, you would push the buggy in front of an RFID scanner and within seconds, you’d have a bill of all your products.

As wonderful as this technology sounds, widespread use of RFID has been limited. However, you can now get your own DIY Tikitag RFID Tag Kit and make relationships between the virtual and real world.

For about $60, you can pick up a Tikitag RFID Tag kit and begin making associations. The options are endless. Place a tag on an umbrella and associate the tag with a webpage that has weather news. This way, when you scan the tag using the included scanner, you can get the latest weather report. Another option would be to place a tag on a business card. When that tag is scanned, it could bring up additional information about your company or product.
