The current video camera on the Apple iPhone 3GS may not be the best in quality available but for those impulsive moments when you just want to record a funny video that you can upload to YouTube, it’s always there. Although we may not be able to change the camera included on these smartphones, Steadicam-Tiffen, who make camera stabilization rigs, are addressing another commonly seen issue with iPhone video and that would be the shakiness introduced by holding the Apple gadget in an unsteady hand.
Steadicam-Tiffen has developed the Steadicam Smoothee, an anti-shake camera mount that is compatible with not just the Apple iPhone 3GS, but also the Flip camcorders and the Motorola Droid Smartphones. The mount, which measures 14.5″ x 2.5″ and comes with an ergonomic handle, acts as a counterbalance that compensates for a wobbly hand.
The rig is still in the prototype stage and no availability or pricing information has been released.
