Square Enix’s MMORPG behemoth Final Fantasy XI is hitting eight years old pretty soon, and it’s not showing any signs of slowing down at all. This year, three new add-ons look to keep fans glued to the game — and it won’t matter what platform they play the game on, either.
The three new add-ons are named “Visions of Abyssea,” “Heroes of Abbysea,” and “Scars of Abbysea.” The first one, Vision, will be out this summer, and the rest will follow soon after. Each of the add-ons will be playable on whatever platform you play the game on, whether it’s your PC, your Xbox 360, or — yeah, if you still have it — the PS2.
It’s worth noting that the three new add-ons won’t work if you haven’t added on two previous expansion packs yet — specifically the “Rise of the Zilart” and “Wings of the Goddess” packs. FFXI players who quit a few months ago and are thinking of making a comeback might be interested in getting updated now.
There’s no doubt that FFXI is a game that’s here to stay for a while yet. But there’s also Square Enix’s next MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV, looming on the horizon. Oh, the agony.
