Toshiba has announced the design of the first dual platter hard drive (MK2431GAH). At a mere 1.8 inches, the Toshiba drive is just barely taller then a standard AA battery, yet comes with a storage capacity of either 240GB (MK2431GAH), 120 GB (K1231GAL) or 80 GB (MK8031GAL) depending upon the model.
The dual layer 240 GB drive can be used in a variety of ways and is well suited for digital video cameras as well as for mobile PC applications that demand high capacity and high shock resistance to protect the consumers digital data.

wow, Looks smaller than the 2.5″. But since the SSD born, disc type storage medium has becoming unpopular because they are fragile and not safe enough to store important data. I remembered I have one hard drive (2.5″) which broken because of small bump to the ground….
Ken, I couldn’t agree with you more, solid state drives are becoming more and more popular, especially as our personal lives such as photos and such are going digital.
