Pixavi has been busy over the last ten years or so with their lineup of rugged digital cameras that can endure a beating and still maintain normal functionality. The latest Pixavi product to be announced is the Xcorder EX4000, a rugged digital video camera.

The new camera has a number of industry certifications to back it up including ATEX and IECex Zone1 and Zone 2. The device comes with a higher end CMOS sensor and supports still photography at 8MP and video capture at 720p resolution, with data being stored on either internal memory or transmitted wirelessly to a network share that resides on a local computer. The EX4000 includes a quality flash that enables the device to take quality pictures and video under most lighting conditions.

The Pixavi camera will go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year and is priced at $5850, with pre-orders now being accepted. If you want a sneak preview of the EX4000, it will be demonstrated at the Offshore Northern Seas tradeshow which is being held in Norway later this year.
