Mahru Z Robot Maid

Another small step forward in robotic technology, courtesy of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) who has introduced the world to their latest robot, Mahru-Z. The new robot, said to be an enhancement over an earlier model, Marhu-M, is the equivalent of a robot maid, capable of performing household chores such as heating food in a microwave, placing dirty clothes in the washing machine and tidying up around the house.

The new autonomous robot stands 4 feet tall, weighs 122 pounds and has the basic dexterity to push small buttons such as those located on the front of a washing machine. Unless you’re thinking genetic mutation, with the exception of the 6 fingers, Mahru-Z is designed to be humanoid like, capable of head rotations as well as arm and leg movements. In terms of vision, the robotic maid has visual sensors that allow it to move freely through a room as well as see 3D objects.

The future for such cognitive humanoid robots may be to deploy them on space missions or in other extreme conditions not suitable for humans, although Le Trung may be looking to add some of this advanced robotic technology in his robot wife.
