The Kill A Watt Button by Kurt Maclaurin

If you’ve ever read one of those articles that discuss energy waste in the home, you’d quickly realize just how much energy (money) is wasted each month by leaving your computer on all the time. There are many reasons people give for leaving their computers on all day and all night but the most common reason given is the amount of time it takes to shut down all the applications and do a proper shutdown on the workstation is just to excessive.
Granted, if you have a workstation that is a bit slower or one where you haven’t installed the operating system lately, yes it will take a bit longer to shutdown. This is where the Kill A Watt button designed by Kurt Maclaurin comes in to play.
The Kill A Watt button is an oversized button that resides on your desktop and has a wireless connection to the workstation. At the end of the day when you are finished your work, you simply press the off button. Kill A Watt will close all programs, saving any open documents and then perform a graceful shutdown of the system.
This gadget will appeal to a wide variety of people from the office worker who has a lot of applications running but really doesn’t want to stay late just to shutdown the workstation to the student who is up late at night studying for exams and is to tired to spend the extra time to shutdown.
