The iCar – A Steve Jobs Concept Idea

Apple’s former Chief Executive Officer, Steve Jobs was known for many things. He was considered tough and demanding amongst his staff, expecting strong results, but at the same time, he was also a visionary. Jobs had many ideas of products that he wanted to develop and launch.

His ideas weren’t limited to just the desktop and smartphone, but rather extended far beyond this. In fact, his vision was to position Apple in such a way, that their products would be used in every facet of ones life. Take for example another product of his that has come to light. This product was a connected car and though it didn’t officially have a name, if Apple maintained their naming convention for products, this device would probably be known as the iCar. There have been a few times in the past when we have heard that Apple may indeed come out with an iCar like product, but these rumors have never really been taken seriously. This recent iCar revelation however has some credibility behind it, having surfaced during the Apple-Samsung trail. The idea of an iCar was brought forward by Phil Schiller, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, but even he ended his comment with the phrase “crazy stuff”. Still however, it is something that Apple has considered in the past and when you see just how Google is moving into the auto industry, you have to wonder if Apple will follow suit.

There are no details as to what an iCar would look like, but you can imagine a connected device, one that would support connectivity through the iPod, iPhone or iPad. Most likely there would also be some sort of support for voice commands through Siri which continues to see its reach extended.
