The build up to the launch of the Motorola Milestone on the Telus network was one that many Canadian consumers followed with interest. At launch time, the Milestone ran on an earlier version of the Android operating system.
There is now some good new as Telus has confirmed that an OS upgrade to Android 2.1 is now available. The free upgrade will not be available OTA (Over the Air) but the process of installing the new OS is quite easy and well documented. Briefly, mobile customers need to head on over to the Motorola website, choose the Telus Milestone from the list of options, acknowledge the license agreement, download the software updater and then finally follow the onscreen prompts to install Android 2.1.
New features available with Android 2.1 include animated wallpapers, enhancements to Google Maps, improved Bluetooth technology, better battery power management and a free Facebook application and widget.
