Telus Mobility Receives Motorola Charm Android Phone

If you reside within the Great White North, you’ve probably noticed that your selection of Android phones started slowly, but recently, the pace of Android phones crossing the border has steadily increased. The most recent phone to be made available by Telus is the Motorola Charm.

One of the most apparent features of this Motorola phone is its form factor, which resembles a RIM Blackberry. The squarish phone includes a full QWERTY keyboard with a series of capacitive touch buttons that reside just above it. These buttons offer one touch control for Home, Menu and Back, making this Android phone someone different from others in its class. Like the Motorola Backflip, the Charm also includes a trackpad that resides on the back surface of the smartphone. Rounding out the hardware features are a QVGA touchscreen display, a rear 3 megapixel digital camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G and GPS support.

From a software point of view, the Motorola Charm is an Android phone that sports Android OS 2.1. There is no indication as to when Android 2.2 will be pushed down to the phone, but considering that talk of Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) has begun and other phone are being upgraded to Android 2.2, we can only surmise that this upgrade will be coming sooner rather then later.

Telus will be selling the phone for $29.99 on a three year serice plan, or $249.99 contract free.
