Toshiba has announced the availability of the Qosmio® X305-Q708 gaming laptop. This is Toshiba’s most powerful laptop to date and has been designed with gamers in mind. The laptop comes with a 17-inch diagonal widescreen TruBrite display. Additional features include a Core 2 Extreme quad-core processor, NIVDIA GeForce 9800M GTS GPUs, 128 GB SSD drive, 4 GB DDR3 ram, a full-size keyboard with 10-key pad, built-in 1.3 mega-pixel webcam with Toshiba face recognition and four Harman Kardon® stereo speakers with built-in subwoofer.

Rumors are abound that Asus will introduce a new notebook in Q1 of 2009. What’s interesting about this rumor is the fact that the new notebook will not ship with a physical QWERTY keyboard. Rather, the notebook will have two displays with the lower display acting as a virtual keyboard. The new notebook is expected to run on Windows 7 only and specialized software will be required to activate the virtual keyboard.

Laptops are great for their portability, you can just about take a laptop anywhere and setup shop. The entire unit is self contained which is a real plus, but for some, having to use a trackpad or trackpoint can be a real pain, especially if this is something you are not quite comfortable with.

Toshiba announced the availability of their latest laptop, the Portege 600. This affordable ($1,399) ultraportable 12.1-inch notebook weighs 3.2 pounds, is only 1.18 inches thin and offers the user up to 7.5 hours of battery life.
