Here’s a cool gadget by designers Jae-yun Kim & Jong-Su Lee that is still in the concept stage. It’s pretty much an intelligent speed bump. We’ve all been on the road, spotted a speed bump, and ended up slowing down to a crawl to save the shocks on the car and to prevent the noggin from bumping on the ceiling.

As part of Design Tokyo, Joonhuyn Kim revealed his “bright idea” - A concept for a flat light bulb.

Why change the bulb shape to flat? Joonhuyn Kim believes that the flat shape of his light bulb design will reduce the volume by 1/3, thereby reducing both packaging material and costs. The flat shape also prevents the bulb from rolling and allows for easier storage as it can now be stacked one on top of another.

Noriko-san is a prototype electronic sleep mask designed by Pyocotan. The design is still in the early prototype stage, but the concept is interesting. Essentially what it boils down to is when you catch a train and want to take a nap, place the Noriko San over your eyes. A scrolling LED will flash your destination stop and the hope is that while you are sleeping, someone else on the train will wake you up once you get to your stop. This will allow you to take a nice nap, get refreshed and have no worries of missing your stop.

Smile Cups are well…..really nothing more then half a cup. However, look at it from above and it looks like a face with two eyes smiling back to you. The happiness, it just makes you tingle inside.
It appears that these are just a concept product, but it’s not a hard stretch to imagine these going for sale, especially when you consider our caloric conscious society….perhaps the slogan should be “Twice the fun, half the calories of a regular cup.”

Check out the new concept PSP design created by Tai Chiem. His vision for the next generation PSP consists of an OLED display that is flexible and can be rolled up when not in use. When you want to play games on this PSP, an electrostatic charge will stiffen the OLED display causing it to unfurl.
Other ideas that Tai Chiem would like to implement in his concept design include stereo speakers on either side of the unit that double as a jog wheel as well as camera control. The design is sleek and the idea of flexible OLED displays becoming more prominent in the marketplace is not unusual as the print media have been looking at refining such technology for there own use.
Additional pictures are available after the jump.
