School age kids are getting online at an earlier age everyday. Walt Disney, which is synonymous with young children has announced a new Disney product, the Netpal, that was developed in conjunction with Asus Computers.

The kid friendly netbook is geared towards children, aged 6 to 12 and resembles the Asus Eee pc.

The Eee pc 1002 is the latest Asus netbook that features a 10″ LED Backlight WSVGA screen (1024×600), Intel® Atom™ N280, 1GB DDR2 RAM, and a long life battery (up to 5 hours on a single charge).

The netbook comes with a 160GB HDD as well as 10GB Eee Storage. Eee Storage is Asus’ online data storage service that they provide complimentary for the first 18 months after you buy a laptop.

The title of the world’s first PC free Skype videophone now belongs to the Asus Ai Guru SV1. This new gadget comes with a 7″ display, built-in webcam and allows for real time video and voice calls to anyone on the Skype network.

The objective of the new video phone was to allow for simple video chat and to that end, the videophone comes with an easy user interface, simple button layouts and icon driven menus.

At CES 2009, Asus had announced a new technology, known as the Eee Keyboard PC or Eee HTPC Keyboard.

Essentially, this new gadget was a full PC housed within a multimedia keyboard and included a 5-inch touchscreen display. Both a wired and wireless version of the keyboard PC were to be available for purchase this summer.

At CeBIT, Asus announced a new laptop design themed after the Lamborghini Reventon sports car.

The new VX5 will feature a highly-styled chassis that replicates the strong lines seen on the Lamborghini. In terms of specifications, the VX5 will come with a 1TB solid state drive (SSD), an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU and 4GB of RAM.

Some time back, Asus announced the Bamboo Series notebook which included a number of green technologies into it’s overall design. This wasn’t the first time that we’ve seen green technology laptops, but the Asus laptop was an anticipated release because of it’s strong specifications and it’s unique bamboo casing.

Rumors are abound that Asus will introduce a new touch screen laptop in Q1 of 2009. What’s interesting about this rumor is the fact that the new notebook will not ship with a physical QWERTY keyboard. Rather, the notebook will have two displays with the lower display acting as a virtual keyboard. The new notebook is expected to run on Windows 7 only and specialized software will be required to activate the virtual keyboard.
