HP announced a series of new iPhone apps, this time in the form of the classic calculator. It’s interesting in that over time, technology becomes obsolete and is replaced by the latest hi-tech gadgets. However, given enough time, the nostalgia factor kicks in and people remember the old devices they once had.
It’s because of this that you see how popular old rom games have become as people try and capture a bit of their youth. The Classic Calculator applications designed by HP are just another way to take a trip down memory lane. These digital calculators are available in 3 models, the HP 12c, HP 12c Platinum and the HP 15c.
TomTom has announced the first in-car navigation system designed to work with the Apple iPhone. The announcement was made at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference which was held in San Francisco yesterday.
As part of the announcement, Peter-Frans Pauwels, a co-founder of TomTom indicated that the new GPS navigation system will consist of two parts:
Mobile navigation software configured for the Apple that will include IQ Routes and current road maps by Tele Atlas.
A hands free car kit that will work as a secure iPhone dock and an in-car charger, thereby permitting hands free calling through voice commands.
Although a definitive date has not been set, you will be able to download the TomTom application through the iTunes app store this summer and the product launch will coincide with the release of Apple’s OS 3.0 operating system.
The new Apple iPhone expected to be available next month will include a digital compass function that will be guided by means of an internal magnetometer.
The OS 3.0 image indicates this will be a user configured compass and by having this function separate from the GPS system affords the user with an easier navigational system.
