T-Mobile will have dibs on August 2009’s smartphone release with HTC’s Touch Pro2. This new business-class smartphone will make its debut on August 12. Details are scant at this point, but we do like what we’re seeing so far.
In many respects, the Touch Pro2 is much like most other high-end smartphones today – it has a responsive touchscreen display and a user-friendly interface. It’s obviously for power users, since I think its powerful 3G and Wi-Fi capabilities would be put to waste if the device fell into the hands of someone who only checked their mail once a week.
With all of the furor about onscreen keyboards on smartphones, the Touch Pro2 plays it safe by having a display that slides and tilts up to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. This will undoubtedly make gaming, e-mailing, web surfing, and working on office applications much easier than in most other business devices. What’s more, the Touch Pro2 comes with a decent 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus.
There hasn’t been any news about how much the Touch Pro2 will cost when it hits the shelves, but the information is expected within the next week and a half. The Touch Pro2 will have a default mocha color – whether it’ll come in other colors also remains to be seen.
