If you had a blast playing Street Fighter IV on the Playstation 3 using a physical game controller to both move your onscreen fighter and engage him in hand to hand combat, then get ready for a new level of excitement as the Capcom game is being ported to the Apple iPhone.
It’s a cool game that resembles the console version, but will it play as nicely as the original game? It’s one thing to have a dedicated game controller, but will Apple users adjust to using the touchscreen display to play the game? Many are questioning just how easy it will be to use the virtual pad and direction buttons visible on the lower half of the touchscreen.
Aside from the possible usability issue, the iPhone version uses the current generation code used on the PS3 and includes the artwork that has earned it many accolades. Additionally, the game will feature a good mix of fighters from the classic brawlers to new characters designed just for Street Fighter IV. Although Capcom didn’t divulge the full roster, it’s supposed to be substantial and at least we do know that two fan favorites Ryu and Ken will be included. All of the fighters will have their complete move set as well as the Ultras and the corresponding animation sequence that goes along with this.
To round out the features, there will be a Dojo Mode (training mode) and once you’re comfortable with the controls, you can move on to tournament or multiplayer mode using a Bluetooth connection.
Awesome! Street Fighter IV in all its glory, it’s just fantastic! We’ll surely adjust on its controls and the graphics may be a little off but that’s fine. Can’t wait to go head-to-head with my buddies over bluetooth.
