Chief Executive Officer, Howard Schultz, has confirmed that Starbucks will offer nationwide free WiFi Internet access to all customers starting on July 1st. The announcement was made at the Wired Conference that is taking place in New York.
Currently, the coffee giant does charge a small user fee for Internet access, but it’s unlikely the company will face any significant revenue loss by shifting to a free model. When you consider just how many coffee shops that Starbucks has in many major cities, you have to smile as this perk will essentially amount to a free city-wide Wifi network. It is being reported that Starbucks will work in partnership with Yahoo to offer this service.
