For all the Star Trek fans, here’s your chance to travel to the final frontier as a trekkie.
At one point or another, everyone has to think about making funeral arrangements and your final resting place. Eternal Image feels that everyone should have an opportunity to go out in style.
Their Star Trek funeral caskets mirror the casket from Star Trek II – The Wrath Of Khan in which Spock was laid to rest after dying from radiation poisoning. This new line is expected to retail in early 2009 with pricing to be determined, but seeing as this is a themed design, it probably won’t be a cheap casket.
For those looking for something a bit more economical, Eternal Image will also offer a Star Trek Urn that draws inspiration from the United Federation of Planets and Starfleet. Similar to the casket, pricing is still to come.

This is just great! Now people can be laid to rest like Mr Spock. Too bad they can’t be sent to the space….(maybe in the next decade

True, the cost of space burials is cost prohibitive, but companies are always looking for new revenue streams and I’m sure at the right price, someone’s final wishes could be accommodated.
It’s interesting in that Gene Roddenberry, the developer of Star Trek, had his ashes placed in a capsule that was sent into orbit.
