The Stantum Slate PC is being called a proof of concept device that is based upon the Dell Mini 10 platform. The multi-touch unit offers a compact design by eliminating the keyboard, trackpad, webcam, Bluetooth, WiFi and drops the number of onboard USB ports from two to one.
What it does have however is a 10.1-inch multitouch LCD display that can recognize up to 10 finger movement at one time and is rated for 1024×600 screen resolution, 500:1 contrast and 200cd/m2 brightness. The unit also comes with Windows 7 preloaded and no additional drivers need to be installed to activate the touchscreen features. The Stantum Slate PC is said to work equally well with both finger and stylus input.
There is no information on pricing or release date, but if you’re looking for a portable tablet (10.3″ x 7.1″ x 1.2″), there is a preorder form available on the Stantum site.
