Sprint has announced that they will carry the HTC Hero, a cell phone designed upon Google’s Android operating system. Sprint customers will be able to purchase the new phone on October 11th for $179.99 after rebate and upon signing a two year unlimited data plan contract that will cost an additional $69.99 per month.
Similar to the T-Mobile HTC Android phones, the Hero supports Google services such as Google Maps, YouTube and Gmail. The phone will also come with WiFi support, a camcorder, 5MP digital camera, an accelerometer, GPS and standard headphone jacks.
According to Kevin Packingham, senior vice president of product development for Sprint, “With the dependability and coverage of Sprint’s 3G network, HTC Hero users will appreciate a much better experience than is possible now with any other Android phone operating in the United States.”

A couple of years ago I was one of 1200 sprint customers that was cut off from the Sprint 3G network. There excuse was the they could not please the customer so the service will be terminated. The truth of the matter was I got to much out of them and I was paying half the price. So even if they use the Hero Andriod operating system on the 3G network they still suck ! I believe T-MOBILE and GOOGLE have more vision and innovative ideas for the Andriod system that they may dominate the market. Be aggressive and put more into your phones T-MOBILE !
So you were one of those customers that calls into a customer service desk 10 times a week and whines about a dropped call while your in the middle on nowhere?? T-Mobile – PLEASE!! A third class network at best, definitely a follower and not a leader in the wireless world. 4G is coming and guess what network!!
Hello everyone! Tmobile and Google according to some cheerleaders think tmobile is a third rate company at best, but look how tmobiles open network idea is causing there greedy competitors to change there straitgy. Look how Linux os is going main stream. Also look at Sprints fake unlimited plan, calling unlimited to cell phones only. Tmobiles unlimited with its loyalty plan and that means everything. Jelousy is as cruel as the grave!
