On Monday, the US based mobile carrier Sprint (NYSE:S) had gone on record to announce the stunning success that the HTC Evo 4G had in terms of sales. In fact, sales were so good, Sprint proclaimed that the Android phone was its best seller on opening day, surpassing the numbers posted by the Samsung Instinct and the Palm Pre.
In a press release put out by Sprint, we’ve now learned that these numbers were “inadvertently overstated”, with the actual sales figures somewhat lower. However, even with the lower numbers, the HTC Evo 4G still had strong first day numbers, posting sales figures that were three times greater then the Samsung Instinct and the Palm Pre. The Evo 4G handset is one that many have been anxiously waiting for as it is the first 4G Android phone that is compatible with the WiMax networks. For features, the handset sports a 4.3-inch LCD screen, an 8MP integrated camera, an HDMI port and Android OS 2.1.
