These days, if possible, we find that online services are going out of their way to develop apps for the various platforms available. The advantage of this of course is to offer their services to as many customers as possible and creating apps for Android and iOS as well as the other platforms is an easy way to increase your reach.
That’s why, it seems kind of odd that it has taken Spotify this long to finally come out with an app for the Apple iPad. It’s been a long wait, but it’s finally available. There are a number of online music streaming services that are competing for customers at this time. In addition to Spotify, there is also Rhapsody, Rdio and MOG. In terms of size, Spotify has seen global growth and within 13 countries, the company currently has 3 million paid users. Rhapsody is an early entry in the scene first showing up in 2003 and this service has 1 million paid users just within the United States.
Seeing as how both MOG and Rdio already have iPad apps, it was imperative that Spotify offer a similar product in order to remain competitive. However, Spotify is quite a bit behind the eight ball when you consider that Rdio launched their app in August of last year. MOG on the other hand launched their app in March of this year.
