Spotify, the music streaming service has expanded it’s digital offering to include mobile devices. Premium subscribers will now have access to Spotify’s vast music library of four million tracks using Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch as well as on Google phones running the Android operating system.
There were some questions as to if Apple would approve the new iPhone application as it directly competes with iTunes but Daniel Ek, CEO of Spotify said that all sides were happy with the financial agreements that have been made.
In addition to custom playlists, the application is capable of storing 3,333 songs for offline play. The song selections can also be updated at anytime an internet connection is available.
Although the software will be offered as a free application, a recurring monthly fee of £10 will be billed for use of the service. The Spotify service is currently available throughout much of Europe, but not in the US.
