The Sony VAIO Z series is set to become another big seller for Sony when it comes out in Europe this March (with a US release soon after). This 13.1-inch, 3.2-pound laptop may look unassuming at first glance, but a peek under its carbon fiber hood reveals specs normally reserved for larger and more powerful devices.
Ultraportable notebook PC’s often focus on form rather than function, but Sony chose to pack in quite a bit of power for the VAIO Z series, beginning with no less than an Intel Core i7 processor. It also sports NVIDIA graphics, four solid-state drives, and a 1920×1080p display resolution.
The VAIO Z series will come bundled with Windows 7 Professional. But what we’re really interested in seeing is its battery life — with so much power under its hood, one tends to wonder whether or not it will last as long as its lesser-endowed competition.
Still no word on pricing, either, although many are suggesting this kind of setup would cost no less than $2,000. We’ll know more as March approaches — hopefully we’ll get some information on the models that will hit US shores, too.
