Sony corporation announced today the Party-shot camera dock (model IPT-DS1). Described as a “personal photographer”, this unique dock has the ability to rotate 360 degrees as well as tilt up and down 24 degrees.
The automated device can be setup in one corner of a room where it will sit and scan it surroundings. Using facial recognition, a BIONZ image processor and a Smile Shutter, it will take automated photos of people. According to Sony, the automated features of this dock allow it to take natural photos as you don’t have the same tendency of people posing for pictures when confronted by a professional photographer.
As Shigehiko Nakayama states, “Party-shot captures candid moments that tell natural life stories and also offers a new style of photography that enriches time with your family and friends.”
The new Sony dock is compatible with both the DSC-TX1 and DSC-WX1 digital cameras and can be easily mounted on a standalone tripod. This portable camera accessory works off an AC adapter or 2 AA batteries which offers up to 11 hours of usage.
You will be able to buy this device in September through Sony Style retail stores and authorized dealers for $150 US.
