Continuing in the line of mobile phone announcements today, Sony Ericsson has also unveiled a couple of new handsets. Announced at the Mobile World Congress were the X10 Mini and the X10 Mini Pro, two new mobile phones that were a miniature version of their flagship X10 model.
The new phones announced today, share a number of similar traits in common including a 2.5-inch touchscreen display with 320×240 pixel resolution, a 5 megapixel digital camera, WiFi and 3G network connectivity, GPS support and a customized Android 1.6 with Mediascape that supports pictures and music and video playback.
Interestingly enough, with mobile phones getting faster processors every day, the new Sony Ericssons don’t include a 1GHz Snapdragon but go with a 600MHz processor.
What separates the two models from one another is the form factor with the X10 mini being strictly a touchscreen device whereas the X10 mini pro includes a slide out QWERTY keyboard.
Both Sony models should be available this spring at which time, 850MHz HSPA variants will be available, thereby allowing their successful launch on AT&T in the US and on one or all of either Bell, Telus and Rogers in Canada.
