Sony unveiled the NW-A840 Walkman today. Weighing just 62g and only 7.2 mm thick, this is by far the thinnest walkman that Sony has released thus far. As a comparison, the Apple iPod is about 6.1 mm thick and about 36 grams.
The A-series Walkman doesn’t include a touchscreen or WiFi like the X-series, but it does include a 2.8-inch WQVGA OLED screen, digital noise canceling headphones, TV-out and an FM radio.
It also has a couple of other interesting features such as drag and drop auto converting video transfer and lyric display on the music player itself. The battery life on the device is rated for 29 hours of music play or 9 hours of video playback.
The Sony devices will be available in black or brown and will retail in Japan on October 31st. No word on a US release date.
