The new print technology has been described as colored wax crayons that have been melted into four individual print heads. During the print process, the colors are sprayed onto the page at a rate of 150 million drops of ink per second which in turn results in a print speed between 38 to 85 ppm.

Aside from the solid ink technology, some of the other highlights of the ColorQube include a small carbon footprint, 2009 Energy Star qualified, low paper consumption due to duplex printing and copying and local recycling as there are no toner cartridges.

With a price of $23,000, the 9200 is designed more as a high end business printer.
