Here’s hoping that we see one of the large laptop manufactures get on board and pick this design concept up. The solar powered laptop is a completely autonomous device that is standalone and due to being self-contained, it has no needs for any external connections.
The laptop has a series of solar cells above the LCD which charge the laptop, thereby negating any requirements for external power. What makes this laptop design even more interesting is the fact that the designer would like to incorporate GPS as well as World Wide Web access through a wireless receiver, thereby making this laptop not only power independent, but also a universal tool for communication, regardless of how remote of a location you may be in.
It’s interesting to think that laptops are designed for portability, yet so many people use a laptop in an office setting as their desktop workstation. This concept laptop, will provide great portability with it’s incorporated devices. This will certainly appeal to scientists in the field that are cataloging their observations, all the way to the family that likes to camp and also have some connection to the civilized world.
