Solar-Breeze, a solar powered pool skimmer, floats in the swimming pool using dual paddlewheels while removing debris from the pool surface. The device is powered by solar energy and requires no electrical energy. The eco-friendly robotic cleaner reduces pool pump usage by two thirds and because of it’s cleaning activity, the chlorine requirements needed for pool maintenance are also reduced. To add to this, Solar-Breeze also acts as a chemical dispenser, releasing chlorine into the pool as needed.
The device is equipped with 2 solar panels which collects and stores the sun’s energy in rechargeable NiMH batteries. A full charge enables the pool cleaner to operate for about 8 hours while an embedded microprocessor will monitor the current charge level. When the charge weakens, the solar powered pool skimmer will situate itself in a sunny spot to recharge it’s batteries again.
